How To Make A Wallet Out of Playing Cards:

Duct-tape wallets are out of style, here's how to make a wallet out of playing cards:

1) Find three playing cards you like. Lay them about 1/4 inch apart side-by-side with the faces towards you.

2) Tape the three cards together with clear packing tape.

3) Repeat this process to make another set of three playing cards.

4) Lay the two sets of cards beside each other (so that the cards make a 3 x 2 rectangle) with the faces towards you.

5) Connect the two pieces with clear packing tape.

6) Turn the cards over, and cover any sticky parts with tape (sticky part to sticky part).

7) Turn the cards over again, and fold the cards toward each other, so that the faces are pointing outwards.

8) Tape the two shorts sides together.

9) Three of the four sides should now be joined together. Your wallet is now complete, put your money in, fold it up, and put it in your pocket.

(I added a pocket inside of mine to put gift cards and my ID in, post your variations in the comment section)

    pretty smart idea.
i made mine just now. faced the cards so when its folded, the ace is on one side and the back of the card is on the other.
its a little stiff tho. guess ill sit on it for a while... that sounds so wrong.

    good idea. thanks!

This would last about a month in my pocket. I'll stick to leather like the one that cost me $18 and has been in my back pocket for 4 years.

    Creative though.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous2:06 PM

I cut a Joker in half and used that as a mini-pocket on the inside middle. Just tape it over a few times or lamenate it with some extra on the sides to make sure the things will fit inside the pocket.

    Great idea!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Great idea!

If you cheap crappy cards made out of flimsy cardboard, odds are that it will probably only last a month.

However for a little extra, you can get slightly plastic sort of playing card (the expensive type).

That will probably hold its shape a little better and be a little more water resistant.

These are awesome, I just went to Tahoe.....in Nevada........ the same place they keep Vegas.......so the cards are really cheap because of all the casinos. On Friday I took orders for them and have 11 people waiting for Monday, so I can sell them for about $3 a piece, (some people aree paying $5) Thanks for the idea, when I become the famous card wallet salesman, you will be the first person I thank.

for those who want a waterproof and slightly more durable option, try those waterproof Uno cards they came out with awhile ago. It'll be fairly stiff, but unique.

now that we all know how to make card wallets, lets move onto the fun how-tos... C4!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Anonymous7:49 AM

I think you could make it with 4 cards, then you would have a nice foldable seam in the middle. Then, to keep it folded, use velcro with the adhesive on the back.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Just made my own, and I like it. I 'laminated' the cards with the packaging tape to make them a little more sturdy and used plastic playing cards. I tried the pocket but I didn't put the cards far enough apart so it didn't close correctly. I'm using velcro with the adhesive backing to keep it closed. Awesome, cheap idea and fun to make. Maybe I'll start selling them :)

you know i noticed that alot of people said it was stiff and hard to fold, a simple solution to that might be putting alittle space in between the cards so the cards don't have to over lap. you only need a little bit of space, just thought id mention that and hope it helps

Since 1994 I'm fascinated by the secondary use of playing cards. My collection includes over 4000 (single) cards used for over 250 different purposes other than playing games. The earliest is from the second half of the 15th century and was used to label a bag with legal documents in France. I will add your smart secondary use of playing cards to my database, with your ID, so your idea will be recorded for future generations. Thanks,

The way I did the card slot was that I took a card from another deck that was the same as the card in the middle inside, and I cut the middle out. Then I covered the whole thing in tape and tapes three sides of it to the middle. It works great!
